BBSEA Supports Wastewater Policy and Investment Planning in Türkiye

Events
Topics: Regional Cooperation

Türkiye is advancing its work under the Blueing the Black Sea Project by linking national policy recommendations with local wastewater investment needs.

Following the completion of a legislative gap analysis and roadmap for closer alignment with the EU Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, project experts carried out consultations and field visits in Sakarya and Trabzon. These visits helped identify pollution hotspots, assess infrastructure needs and gather practical input from local authorities and technical institutions. In Trabzon, sites in Yomra, Ortahisar and Akçaabat were reviewed as part of the investment prioritisation process.

The findings will now feed into Türkiye’s national policy and investment recommendations for reducing wastewater pollution entering the Black Sea.
